About College Slam
College Slam came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that late SNES era when sports games were really pushing the limits of the hardware, offering a more exaggerated take on basketball compared to the sim-focused titles.
You control two players from a selection of over 40 college teams in two-on-two matches. The main goal is to outscore your opponent, and the game is built on fast breaks and high-flying action. Signature mechanics include the turbo button for a quick burst of speed and the ability to perform dramatic dunks that often shatter the backboard. The pacing is relentless, with the computer providing a tough challenge that forces you to master timing for steals and blocks. It feels like a chaotic, energetic party on the court.
