Chuck Rock on SNES is one of those weird, charming platformers that somehow makes cavemen and dinosaurs feel fresh. You play as this big-bellied hero who belly-flops enemies, throws boulders, and waddles through jungles and caves to save his wife from Gary Gritter (who, let’s be honest, looks like a caveman who discovered hair gel).
The physics are ridiculous in the best way—Chuck’s gut has its own gravitational pull, and watching him struggle up cliffs is weirdly endearing. The levels mix simple puzzles with platforming, like rolling rocks to smash walls or timing jumps over lava pits while pterodactyls dive-bomb you. And that soundtrack? Pure 16-bit cheese, with these bouncy jungle beats that stick in your head.
It’s not the hardest game, but there’s something about the goofy animations and dumb prehistoric gags (wait till you see the "dino parking lot") that makes it hard to put down. If you dig retro platformers with personality, this one’s a blast.
