About Chrono Trigger (japan)
Chrono Trigger came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Square. It was one of those later SNES games that really showed what the system could do, with detailed sprites and a big, involved story.
You control Crono, a silent protagonist, and a party of characters you meet across different time periods. Your main goal is to stop a world ending threat called Lavos. You explore the world screen by screen, fighting enemies in turn based battles that happen right on the map. A key feature is the Tech system, where characters can combine their special abilities for powerful double and triple attacks. The pacing is brisk, moving you between eras like the prehistoric past and a far future wasteland without much grinding. The game feels cohesive and full of discovery as you see your actions in one time directly affect another.
