About Choplifter Iii - Rescue Survive
Choplifter III came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by the Extreme Entertainment Group. It was part of that wave of mid-90s SNES games that tried to blend different genres, putting a helicopter into what felt like a side-scrolling action game. You don't see many games built entirely around a rescue helicopter, so it always stood out on the shelf.
You pilot a heavily armed helicopter through a series of missions. Your main job is to locate survivors on the ground, land carefully to pick them up, and then ferry them back to your home base. The signature mechanics are managing your helicopter's limited fuel and ammunition while navigating tight, enemy-filled corridors. The pacing is tense; you are constantly watching your gauges and scanning for threats, making every rescue a calculated risk. It feels like a high-stakes logistics puzzle wrapped in an action game.
