Chavez II on SNES is one of those old-school boxing games that somehow makes getting punched in the face fun. You play as Julio Cesar Chavez—yeah, the actual legend—and the pixelated ring actually feels intense, especially when you start landing those satisfying counter-hooks.

The controls are simple (just a few buttons for jabs, uppercuts, and dodges), but the AI doesn’t mess around. First fight in, I thought I could button-mash my way to victory—nope. You gotta time your blocks or you’ll eat a combo that drains half your health bar. The crowd even boos if you play too defensive, which is a weirdly cool detail.

It’s got that classic SNES charm—bright colors, chunky sprites, and that tinny punch sound effect you can almost feel. Not the deepest boxing sim, but perfect for quick matches when you want that retro adrenaline hit. Just don’t blame me when you start ducking in real life after playing too long.
