Chavez on SNES is basically the Latino-flavored version of Riddick Bowe Boxing—same punchy gameplay, but with Spanish menus and a roster packed with fighters like Speedo Garcia and Ron Ronaldo. Of course, Julio César Chávez is the star here, and he hits like you’d expect. The boxers all feel different—some are glass cannons, others just won’t go down—but don’t expect deep strategy. It’s straight-up arcade boxing with a bit of that early '90s jank.
First match in, you’ll notice the controls are simple (jab, hook, block), but timing matters more than button mashing. The crowd animations are hilariously stiff, and the ring announcer sounds like he’s yelling through a tin can. Not exactly a knockout, but it’s got charm if you’re into this era of sports games.
