Castles II: Siege and Conquest is a real-time strategy game released for MS-DOS in 1992. Developed by Quicksilver Software and published by Interplay Entertainment, the game combines managerial and fantasy elements. Players view the action from a bird's-eye perspective as they engage in a medieval power struggle.

The player assumes the role of one of five rival nobles, each seeking to become the King of Bretagne. The primary objective is to accumulate 7,000 points to petition the Pope for the throne, then maintain that point level for several in-game months to secure victory. Players expand their influence by conquering territories, many of which are initially held by neutral lords. Gameplay involves managing multiple systems, including military conquest, espionage, sabotage, and diplomacy. Maintaining favorable relations with both the Pope and the general populace is a constant strategic consideration.

Progression involves gradually taking control of territory across France while building economic and military strength. The castle building system allows for efficient construction, with the option to place pre-designed layouts quickly. When conflicts arise, battles transition to a separate screen where the player can position and command individual units. The game concludes when the Pope makes a final decision on a player's claim to the throne, a process that typically spans three to ten years of in-game time. Rival nobles will actively attack a player who has gained the Pope's declared support, making military preparedness a key factor in the late game.
