Captain Tsubasa J - The Way To World Youth is the SNES’s final send-off for the soccer anime series, and honestly? It’s a solid way to go out. The gameplay’s faster than the earlier entries, with smoother animations when you pull off those ridiculous super shots—you know, the ones where the ball catches fire or leaves a trail of lightning.
At first, I thought it was just more of the same, but the World Youth mode adds some depth with team management and player growth. Picking your squad actually matters now, and watching your players evolve over time feels rewarding. Still, don’t expect FIFA—this is pure arcade soccer, where sliding tackles send opponents flying and every match feels like an over-the-top anime episode.
If you’re into the series, it’s a must-play. If not… well, at least try it for the sheer absurdity of a 12-year-old scoring from midfield with a tornado kick.
