Captain Tsubasa III on SNES is basically soccer anime turned into a game—and it’s as over-the-top as you’d expect. You pick your team, dive into matches, and unleash ridiculous special shots that look like they’re straight out of a shonen manga. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you figure out the timing for those super moves, it’s satisfying to blast the ball past the keeper with a flaming dragon kick or whatever nonsense Tsubasa’s pulling this time.
It’s Japan-only, so unless you’re fluent, you’ll be guessing at menus—but honestly, the gameplay’s straightforward enough that you can muddle through. The sprites are chunky and colorful, and the matches have that classic SNES energy. Just don’t expect FIFA-level realism. This is all about dramatic, physics-defying goals.
If you’ve got nostalgia for the anime or just love retro sports games with extra flair, it’s a fun time. Just be ready for some trial and error with the controls.
