About Cannondale Cup
Cannondale Cup came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, published by American Softworks. It was part of that wave of sports games trying to capture a specific, real world competition on the 16-bit consoles. You don't see many mountain biking games, so it always stood out a bit on the shelf next to the racers and platformers.
You control a cyclist navigating through side scrolling mountain courses. The main goal is to finish each race in first place, which involves managing your stamina and speed across changing terrain. The signature mechanics are the manual control over your rider's posture; you can lean forward or back to handle steep hills and jumps, and you have a limited boost for bursts of speed. The tracks are filled with obstacles like rocks and gaps, demanding quick reflexes. It is a challenging game where a single crash can cost you the race.
