About Cb Chara Wars - Ushinawareta Gag
I first came across CB Chara Wars: Ushinawareta Gag on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. It was a Banpresto release, and it fit right into that early SNES period where developers were experimenting with different genres. This one was an action platformer that stood out mostly for its cast of characters, all drawn from various manga series published in CoroCoro Comic.
You control a small character, running and jumping through side scrolling stages. The main goal is to defeat enemies and navigate to the end of each level. Your primary actions are a standard jump and a short range attack, like a punch or a kick. Some characters can also perform a special screen clearing move, which uses up a portion of your health bar. The pacing is fast, and the levels are fairly short, but the enemy placement can make it surprisingly difficult. Playing it feels like a quick, chaotic scramble from start to finish.
