Bubsy II came out on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, published by Accolade. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers trying to capture some of the energy from more popular mascots. You play as Bubsy the bobcat, a character known for his wisecracks and a t-shirt, navigating a series of themed worlds.

You control Bubsy through side scrolling levels, running and jumping across platforms. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage, but you spend most of your time collecting yarn balls that are scattered everywhere. Bubsy can perform a gliding move to cross wider gaps, and he can find and pilot various vehicles, like a rocket or a submarine, in certain sections. The pacing is fast, almost frantic, because Bubsy moves quickly and enemies appear suddenly, which can make the difficulty feel unpredictable. Playing it is a mix of trying to master the slippery momentum of the character and dealing with the constant threat of losing a life from a single hit.
