Brutal: Paws of Fury is one of those weird, forgotten SNES fighters where all the characters are animals—like a street brawler version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles meets Street Fighter II. You’ve got a tiger in a gi, a kangaroo with boxing gloves, even a weird little fox ninja. The moves feel stiff compared to Capcom’s classics, but there’s something oddly charming about watching a wolf in sunglasses suplex a rabbit.
First ten minutes? You’ll mash buttons trying to figure out special moves (good luck without a manual), then realize the kangaroo’s rapid punches are kinda broken. The stages have this grungy 90s vibe, like a dingy back alley or some neon-lit rooftop. It’s janky, but if you’re into obscure fighting games with bizarre rosters, it’s a fun time capsule.
