Brutal: Paws of Fury is one of those weird, forgotten SNES fighters where all the characters are animals—like, a tiger in a gi, a wolf with cybernetic claws, that kind of thing. It plays like a stripped-down Street Fighter II, but with way more fur and questionable hit detection. The first time I booted it up, I picked the kangaroo boxer (because of course) and immediately got wrecked by a ninja cat spamming the same combo over and over.
It’s janky, sure, but there’s something charming about the over-the-top animal designs and the way the announcer yells "BRUTAL!" after every knockout. Just don’t expect tournament-level depth—this is more of a "pizza and soda with friends" kind of fighter. The tiger’s fireball move is somehow both broken and useless at the same time.
