Brandish on SNES is one of those dungeon crawlers that feels like it wants to mess with you—in a good way. You start off in this weird, twisting labyrinth where the camera stays fixed overhead, so you’re constantly rotating the map to figure out which way you’re actually facing. Took me a solid five minutes to stop walking into walls.
The combat’s simple but tense—you’ve got this little sword swing that needs perfect timing, and the monsters don’t mess around. Found out the hard way that spiders hit harder than they look. And the puzzles? Some are obvious, others make you feel like an idiot until you finally notice that one cracked tile in the corner.
It’s got that old-school charm where the atmosphere does most of the work—dim torchlight, eerie music, and the occasional treasure chest that might just be a mimic. If you’re into methodical exploration with a side of mild frustration, this one’s a gem.
