Bram Stoker's Dracula on SNES is one of those weird licensed games that somehow works. It's based on the 1992 Coppola movie, but instead of just retelling the story, it throws you into this surprisingly solid side-scrolling action game. You play as Jonathan Harker, then later as Van Helsing, whipping candles for hearts and stabbing your way through bats, wolves, and the occasional zombie.
The atmosphere nails that gothic horror vibe—moody backgrounds, flickering torches, and Dracula’s castle actually feels creepy. Combat’s a bit stiff (this was 1993, after all), but there’s something satisfying about the way enemies explode into dust when you stake them. Just don’t expect it to be easy—some of those platforming sections are brutal.
Fun fact: The soundtrack slaps. They somehow crammed this eerie, orchestral vibe into the SNES sound chip. It’s not perfect, but for a movie tie-in, it’s way better than it had any right to be.
