Bonkers: Hollywood Daisakusen! came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that wave of licensed platformers from the mid-90s, based on the short-lived cartoon about the polka-dotted panther. The game doesn't get talked about much, but it has a certain charm if you dig into the SNES library from that period.

You control Bonkers J. Fawn, a cartoon bobcat trying to make it as a Hollywood star. The main goal is to progress through movie-themed stages, rescuing your co-star Lucky Piquel from the villain The Greedy. You move screen by screen, using a basic punch attack and a spin move to defeat enemies. A key mechanic is collecting film reels scattered in each level; you need a certain number to finish the stage. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly with some tricky platforming sections. It feels like a straightforward, slightly chaotic cartoon brought to life.
