About Blues Brothers, The (japan)
I first played The Blues Brothers on the Super Nintendo back in 1992. It was published by Titus Software, a company that put out a number of titles during that era of the SNES. This was a time when licensed games based on movies were common, and this one tried to capture the spirit of the film.
You control either Jake or Elwood Blues, running and jumping through side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to recover musical instruments for the band. The gameplay involves platforming across city rooftops and through streets, while you punch or kick enemies like cops and protesters. You also collect records and microphones for points and extra lives. The levels are often long and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise jumps required over bottomless pits. Playing it feels like a challenging, sometimes frustrating, trip through a pixelated version of the movie's world.
