About Blues Brothers, The (europe)
I first played The Blues Brothers on the Super Nintendo back in 1993. It was published by Titus and felt like a familiar part of the SNES library, a licensed game trying to capture the spirit of the movie. You control Jake or Elwood Blues, and the goal is straightforward: get the band back together by raising money for the orphanage.
You run and jump through side scrolling levels, from city streets to a shopping mall. Your main actions are punching enemies and using a limited supply of dynamite to clear obstacles. The game is structured screen by screen; you must clear all the enemies in one area before you can move to the next. This makes the pacing methodical, and the difficulty is quite unforgiving, with precise jumps required. Playing it feels like a persistent, sometimes frustrating, effort to keep the music alive.
