BlaZeon came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, published by Atlus. It was part of that wave of early 90s shooters trying to stand out on the system, and it had a look that reminded a lot of people of anime series like Mobile Suit Gundam, especially in the designs of the larger enemy craft.

You pilot a transforming bio-mechanical fighter, moving through stages screen by screen. Your main goal is to survive the enemy onslaught and defeat the boss at the end of each area. The standout feature is the capture system; you can shoot a tether to latch onto certain enemies, pulling them in to become one of two secondary weapons you can switch between. Managing these captured options is the core of the strategy, alongside a screen-clearing bomb for emergencies. The game moves at a brisk pace and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding precise control to navigate tight spaces and dense bullet patterns. It feels like a constant, tense juggling act between offense and survival.
