Okay, so Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R on SNES is basically what happens when someone took the anime’s sparkly transformation sequences and turned them into a side-scrolling beat ‘em up. You pick your favorite Sailor Scout—Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, or Venus—and just start wrecking monsters with magic attacks and the occasional tiara throw.
The sprites are surprisingly detailed for a 16-bit game, and the music nails that early ‘90s anime vibe. It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about clearing a screen of enemies with Sailor Jupiter’s lightning. Just don’t expect a story mode—it’s pure arcade-style action with some minor platforming bits.
If you grew up with the anime or just love retro brawlers, this one’s a solid time capsule. The controls are simple, but pulling off a team-up super move with two players still feels awesome. It’s short, flashy, and exactly what you’d want from a Sailor Moon game in 1993.
