Big Sky Trooper is one of those weird, underrated SNES gems that never got the love it deserved. You play as this little dude in a mech suit, blasting alien slugs across these sprawling, maze-like levels. The controls take a second to get used to—your guy moves kinda floaty, but once you figure out the rhythm of dodging and shooting, it clicks.
The art style’s got this cool mix of chunky pixel robots and gross, slimy enemies that explode in the most satisfying way. Some levels have these weird gravity shifts where you’re suddenly walking on walls, and there’s this one boss that just keeps splitting into smaller slugs. Messed me up the first time.
It’s not perfect—the camera sometimes fights you in tight spaces—but there’s something oddly addictive about clearing out rooms full of squishy aliens. Definitely a solid pick if you’re into retro mech games with a side of weirdness.
