Best Of The Best - Championship Karate (europe) (beta) Game

Best of the Best is one of those early SNES fighters that feels a little rough around the edges now, but there's something oddly charming about it. You pick from a roster of international karate fighters—each with their own stiff but exaggerated animations—and duke it out in small, flat arenas. The controls take some getting used to (good luck pulling off a consistent uppercut), but once you get the timing down, there's a weird satisfaction in landing a spinning kick just right.
It’s definitely not as polished as Street Fighter II, but the exaggerated sound effects and the way characters dramatically flop to the ground after a knockout make it fun in a goofy way. The beta version feels even more unrefined, with some hit detection that’ll have you yelling at the screen. Still, if you’re into early '90s fighting games, it’s a neat little time capsule.
