About Beauty And The Beast (europe)
Beauty and the Beast for the Super Nintendo came out in 1994 from Sunsoft. It was one of many licensed platformers from that time, based directly on the Disney film. The game fits right in with other side scrolling adventures on the system, using colorful graphics and familiar movie themes.
You control the Beast, moving through levels screen by screen. Your main goal is to rescue Belle from the clutches of Gaston and his hunters. You use your claws for basic combat against enemies like wolves and village thugs; you can also pick up and throw objects you find in the environment. The game involves a lot of exploration, searching for keys to unlock doors and navigating platforming challenges across the castle and forest. The pacing is deliberate, and some sections can be quite difficult due to precise jumps and enemy placement.
