Battle Tycoon - Flash Hiders is one of those weird little SNES gems that never got enough love. At first glance, it looks like a standard fighting game—pick your mech, throw some punches—but then you realize there’s this whole business sim layer where you’re managing upgrades and sponsorships between matches. Weird combo, but it works.

The controls are clunky in that classic 16-bit way (good luck pulling off special moves consistently), but there’s something satisfying about watching your custom robot slowly evolve from a scrapheap brawler to a sponsored corporate killing machine. The announcer yells everything in Engrish, and the soundtrack’s all crunchy synth beats—pure 90s cheese.

Don’t expect depth on par with Capcom’s fighters, but if you’re into obscure SNES oddities with personality, this one’s worth a few rounds. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck grinding cash for that flamethrower attachment.
