About Battle Blaze (beta)
Battle Blaze came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, published by Sammy Studios. It was part of that wave of early 90s fighting games trying to carve out a space on the console, offering a weapon-based alternative to the more common martial arts brawls.
You control a barbarian warrior in one-on-one combat across various fantasy arenas. The main goal is to defeat your opponent in a best-of-three rounds match using swords, axes, or other medieval arms. Signature mechanics include a high and low attack system, letting you aim for your foe's head or legs, and a super meter that builds as you fight, allowing for a powerful special move when full. The pacing is deliberate, with a focus on timing your swings and blocks rather than frantic button mashing; the difficulty can be steep as you learn the range and speed of each weapon. It feels like a heavy, calculated duel where a single well-placed strike can turn the tide.
