BattleStar is a strategy action game released for MS-DOS. The game presents a variation on the classic asteroid shooter format, replacing scattered space rocks with a single, large hostile spacecraft as the primary objective.

The player controls a small ship within a confined playing field. The core objective is to destroy the central BattleStar while maneuvering to avoid its return fire. Gameplay involves navigating the arena, which requires careful positioning to line up shots at the target while simultaneously evading incoming projectiles. Progression is structured around surviving the enemy's attacks and systematically depleting the BattleStar's defenses until it is eliminated. The main gameplay systems consist of piloting the player's ship for movement and evasion, aiming and firing weapons at the large target, and managing spatial awareness to stay clear of the opponent's counterattacks.
