Alright, let’s talk about Batman Forever on SNES. It’s one of those licensed beat ‘em ups that feels like it’s trying really hard to be Arkham before Arkham was a thing—except, you know, with 16-bit limitations. You start off punching your way through Gotham’s usual suspects—thugs in neon-lit alleys, guys with bats, the occasional weirdo in a costume—and it’s got that classic side-scrolling brawler vibe.
The controls are… fine. Batman’s got his usual moves—punches, kicks, a grappling hook that sometimes works when you need it to—but don’t expect anything too deep. The real star here is the atmosphere. The soundtrack nails that dark, synth-heavy ‘90s Batman tone, and the sprite work is surprisingly moody for an SNES game. Two-Face looks appropriately unhinged, and Riddler’s just smug enough to make you want to punch him extra hard.
It’s not the best Batman game out there, but if you’re into that era of licensed brawlers, it’s a solid time-waster. Just don’t expect it to hold up like Streets of Rage or anything. Gotham’s still worth saving, even if the combat’s a little stiff.
