Bastard!! on SNES is one of those weird, hyper-stylized fighting games where you're slinging spells instead of throwing punches. The whole thing feels like an arcade cabinet got possessed by a heavy metal album cover—lots of glowing energy blasts and characters yelling dramatic attack names.
At first I thought it was just another Street Fighter clone, but the magic system changes everything. You're not doing quarter-circle punches here—hold down a button, tap another, and suddenly your screen's filled with lightning storms or demonic skulls. Took me a few matches to stop accidentally setting myself on fire.
It's janky in that very 90s anime game way (hitboxes are more like suggestions), but there's something satisfying about nailing a ridiculous 5-button incantation and watching your opponent get vaporized by a pillar of darkness. Just don't expect tournament-level balance when one character can summon a literal meteor.
