About Bastard!! - Ankoku No Hakaishin (japan)
Bastard!! - Ankoku No Hakaishin came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed by Cobra Team. It was part of that wave of games based on manga and anime, a pretty common sight on the SNES. You don't see many people talk about it now, but it was there.
You control the wizard Dark Schneider, moving through side scrolling stages and fighting enemies with a mix of close range sword slashes and long distance magic spells. Your main goal is to advance through each level, defeating bosses and clearing areas. The combat relies on executing special moves using specific button combinations, which lets you unleash powerful magical attacks. The game can be quite difficult, with enemy patterns that require quick reactions and precise inputs. Playing it feels like a constant test of your ability to chain together spells under pressure.
