Bassins Black Bass came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, published by Starfish. It was part of that wave of mid-90s SNES games that tried to cover every possible niche, including the surprisingly specific one of freshwater fishing simulation. You don't see many games like it anymore, but back then it was just another cartridge you could rent for the weekend.

You control an unseen angler, and your goal is to catch the biggest bass you can find. The core of the game is choosing your location, selecting the right lure from a small selection, and then casting your line. Once a fish bites, the real work begins; you have to carefully reel it in by managing the tension on your line, constantly adjusting so it doesn't break. The pacing is slow and deliberate, almost meditative, until a fish strikes and the fight becomes a tense battle of attrition. It feels like a quiet test of patience where a single mistake can cost you the entire catch.
