Remember that old-school Asterix game on SNES? Yeah, the one where you’re smacking Romans with wild boars and chugging magic potions like it’s juice. It’s exactly as ridiculous and fun as it sounds.
You start off in the Gaulish village—bright colors, goofy music, Obelix grumbling about menhirs—and within minutes you’re punching legionaries off cliffs or tossing them into the air like ragdolls. The controls are simple, but some of those later levels? Brutal. Ever tried dodging flaming arrows while a centurion charges at you? Good luck.
What really sells it is the humor. The animations are full of little details—like Asterix getting dizzy after spinning attacks or Obelix casually breaking stone pillars with his pinky. And yeah, the boss fights are just as over-the-top as the comics. Nothing beats suplexing a Roman general into a pile of cabbages.
If you grew up with this one, it’s pure nostalgia. If not, it’s still a solid platformer with way more personality than most. Just don’t blame me when you get the level 3 music stuck in your head for days.
