Ever played one of those SNES RPGs that feels like it got lost in translation? Aretha is kind of like that—a weird, charming little time capsule from 1993. You start off as this girl who gets sucked into a fantasy world (classic), and suddenly you're recruiting a party of misfits, including a sassy cat warrior and a mage who’s way too dramatic for his own good.

The combat’s turn-based but with a twist—positioning actually matters, so you can’t just mash attack. I remember getting wrecked by the first boss because I didn’t realize my healer needed to stay in the back row. The magic system’s got this cool elemental rock-paper-scissors thing going on, and the sprite work? Surprisingly lush for an obscure title. Just don’t expect a deep story—it’s more about vibes and figuring out which spells don’t backfire spectacularly.

If you dig oddball JRPGs with personality, this one’s worth dusting off an emulator for.
