About Ardy Lightfoot (japan) (beta)
Ardy Lightfoot was a platformer developed by ASCII and published by Titus. It was released in Japan in 1993, with a European and North American release following in 1994. The game appeared on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System during a period when many developers were experimenting with colorful, side scrolling adventures.
You control Ardy, a fox on a quest to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend. The main objective involves traveling through a series of themed worlds, each composed of discrete, screen by screen areas. Signature mechanics include using a boomerang to attack enemies and solve puzzles, as well as riding various animals that grant unique movement abilities, like a kangaroo for higher jumps. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be sharp, with precise platforming required to navigate environmental hazards. Playing it feels like a brisk, challenging trek through a bright and sometimes unforgiving cartoon landscape.
