About Apocalypse Ii (europe) (proto)
Apocalypse II for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was a prototype that never saw a full commercial release. It was developed by Sales Curve Interactive, the same team behind the original Apocalypse. This places it among the many SNES projects from the mid-1990s that explored the shooter genre, aiming to find a new angle on familiar space combat.
You pilot a nimble spacecraft tasked with defending Earth from waves of descending asteroids and enemy ships. The primary objective is to survive each stage by clearing the screen of threats. A key mechanic is the full 360-degree rotation of your ship, giving you precise control over your firing direction. You navigate screen by screen, dodging fragmented asteroid pieces and returning fire. The pacing is relentless, with the difficulty escalating quickly as new enemy patterns are introduced.
