About Another World (europe)
Another World came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Delphine Software. It was part of that early wave of SNES games that felt different from the usual platformers, offering a cinematic experience that was uncommon at the time.
You control Lester, a scientist stranded on a dangerous alien planet after a lab accident. Your main goal is simply to survive and find a way home. The game unfolds screen by screen; you solve environmental puzzles, often under pressure from hostile creatures and guards. There is no traditional combat at first, just evasion and using your limited laser pistol when you finally get it. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is high, with instant death a frequent teacher. Playing it feels like navigating a tense, interactive sci-fi movie where every mistake has a consequence.
