Another World on SNES is one of those games that sticks with you—not just because of its weird, moody sci-fi vibe, but because it throws you right into the deep end. You start off as Lester, a scientist who gets sucked into some alien dimension after a lab accident, and suddenly you're dodging monsters, solving weird environmental puzzles, and trying not to die in the most dramatic ways possible (seriously, the death animations are brutal).

The controls take a second to get used to—everything’s a bit weighty, and timing matters way more than you’d think. But once it clicks, the whole thing feels like playing through some lost ‘80s animated movie. The sequel, Gates to Another World, ramps up the stakes with that villain who slipped away last time, and now they’re wrecking the planet CRON. It’s still got that same eerie atmosphere, just with more ways to fail spectacularly.

If you’re into games that don’t hold your hand and make you figure things out the hard way, this one’s a trip.
