Alien 3 on SNES is one of those licensed games that actually gets the vibe right—dark, claustrophobic, and full of that 'oh crap' energy when a xenomorph drops from the ceiling. You play as Ripley, running through a prison colony that’s basically a giant death maze, armed with a flamethrower and some seriously janky platforming skills (seriously, watch out for those jumps).
The pixel art nails the movie’s grimy aesthetic, and the sound design? Pure tension. Every beep of the motion tracker makes you freeze. It’s not perfect—some sections feel unfairly punishing, and the controls take getting used to—but there’s something weirdly satisfying about barely surviving a hallway full of facehuggers. If you’re into retro horror or just love the franchise, it’s worth a play, even if just to feel that 16-bit dread.
