About Alien 3 (europe)
Alien 3 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Probe Entertainment. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games on the SNES, a time when developers tried to capture a film's atmosphere with the limited, but expressive, 16-bit hardware.
You control Ellen Ripley, the sole survivor of a crash landing on the penal colony Fury 161. Your primary goal is to rescue the remaining prisoners from a spreading Xenomorph infestation before the colony's nuclear reactor goes critical. The game is a side-scrolling action platformer where you move screen by screen through the industrial complex. You collect and use different weapons, like flamethrowers and pulse rifles, to fight off aliens, and you must also find keycards to unlock new areas. The pacing is tense and the difficulty is high, demanding careful movement and resource management. Navigating the dark, claustrophobic corridors while listening for the skittering of aliens creates a genuinely anxious feeling.
