Alfred Chicken is one of those weird, charming SNES platformers that feels like it fell out of a cartoon from 1993—because it did. You play as this dopey-looking red chicken hopping through surreal levels full of bouncing apples, floating platforms, and enemies that look like they escaped from a kid’s sketchbook.
The controls are simple (run, jump, peck), but some of the level designs get surprisingly tricky. There’s a weird satisfaction in knocking over stacked apples to reach higher platforms or figuring out the timing on those bouncy mushrooms. The music’s got that classic SNES bouncy vibe, too—kinda repetitive, but in a way that sticks in your head.
It’s not the deepest platformer out there, but there’s something oddly endearing about its janky charm. If you dig obscure retro games with personality, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
