Albert Odyssey 2 is one of those SNES RPGs that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s got this weird, moody charm. The menus and dialogue are all in Japanese, so unless you’re fluent or patient with a guide, you’ll be mashing buttons and hoping for the best—but honestly, that kind of adds to the mystery.
Right away, you’re thrown into this dark fantasy world with sprites that feel a step up from the first game. The battles are classic turn-based stuff, but there’s something about the atmosphere—like the music and those eerie dungeon designs—that sticks with you. I stumbled through the first hour just guessing at equipment and skills, but somehow, it worked.
If you’re into obscure 90s RPGs with a grimy aesthetic, this one’s worth digging up.
