I remember picking up The Addams Family for the Super Nintendo back in 1992. It was published by Ocean Software, one of those many licensed platformers that filled the shelves during the 16-bit era. The game was based on the movie, but it had its own feel, a bit darker and more focused on the mansion than the film's plot.

You play as Gomez Addams, moving through the family mansion room by room. Your main goal is to rescue each family member, who are trapped in different parts of the house, before confronting the lawyer Tully Alford. The exploration is screen by screen; you jump between platforms, avoid traps like spikes and enemies, and search for keys to unlock new areas. A signature move is Gomez's headspin attack, which you use to defeat enemies and break certain blocks. The pacing is methodical, as you backtrack through rooms you've already cleared to use new items you find, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with some precise jumps required. Playing it feels like navigating a large, dangerous, and slightly absurd puzzle box.
