About 4 Nin Shougi (japan)
4 Nin Shougi came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, published by Pony Canyon. It was one of many Japanese exclusive titles that filled out the SNES library, offering a specific kind of board game experience for players in that region.
You control one of four shogi masters, each with their own portrait, competing in matches of Japanese chess. The main objective is to outmaneuver your opponents on the shogi board, capturing their pieces and ultimately checkmating their king. The game features a four-player mode, allowing for free-for-all matches or team play, and it includes a handicap system to adjust the difficulty for different skill levels. Matches can be slow and deliberate, demanding careful planning of each move, as a single mistake can quickly turn the tide. Playing it feels like a quiet, focused battle of wits where every decision carries weight.
