About 3x3 Eyes - Juuma Houkan (japan)
3x3 Eyes: Juuma Houkan came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of Japanese action-adventure titles that tried to blend exploration with a strong narrative, based on the popular manga series. You don't see many games from that license, so it always stood out on the shelf.
You control Yakumo, a young man searching for a way to restore his friend Pai's humanity. The game plays out across interconnected areas, screen by screen, where you use a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting distant switches or enemies. A lot of your time is spent navigating multi-level dungeons, solving environmental puzzles, and hunting for specific items to progress. The pacing is deliberate, and some of the platforming can be quite demanding. It feels like a methodical journey where every new room could hide a needed clue or a sudden ambush.
