2020 Super Baseball on SNES is one of those arcade-style baseball games that just feels right—fast, a little chaotic, and way more fun than it has any right to be. The moment you boot it up, you're hit with bright, slightly chunky 16-bit players and a field that somehow nails that "sunny afternoon game" vibe.
Pitching is simple but satisfying—you pick your throw, aim, and watch as the batter either whiffs or sends one flying. Batting’s where it gets tense though; timing matters, but it’s forgiving enough that you’re not constantly striking out. I remember my first game, I kept swinging too early until I realized the pitchers love throwing curveballs just to mess with you.
It’s not hyper-realistic or anything, but the animations have this smooth, exaggerated charm—like outfielders diving unrealistically far or runners sliding into base in slow-mo. And the teams? They’re all fictional, but you’ll still end up picking favorites (I’m team Ninjas, no question).
If you’ve got a buddy around, the two-player mode turns into pure chaos in the best way. Just don’t blame me when someone starts spamming fastballs.
