Players control the masked swordsman Zorro, also known as Don Diego Vega, as he works to stop the corrupt official Don Cortez from obtaining an ancient treasure. Progression involves navigating through a series of levels, with an emphasis on careful timing and precise physical movement. The core gameplay revolves around platforming activities such as jumping across gaps and climbing onto ledges to traverse the environments. For combat and interaction, Zorro can utilize both a sword and a whip; the sword delivers stronger attacks while the whip allows him to strike enemies from a greater distance.
