Play Xonix Online

Xonix is a puzzle solving video game released for MS DOS in 1984. The game is presented from a top down perspective and is a variation of the earlier arcade title Qix.

The player controls a cursor that moves along the borders of a rectangular playfield. The primary objective is to claim sections of the open area inside the borders by drawing lines to create closed rectangles. While doing this, the player must avoid contact with enemy characters that move both along the safe border areas and within the unclaimed space. Successfully enclosing an area fills it, and the goal is to fill a specific percentage of the total playfield. Once that percentage is reached, the player advances to the next level. The core gameplay involves careful timing and path planning to trap enemies and claim territory without being intercepted.
