About Who Framed Roger Rabbit (dos)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an arcade-style licensed game released in 1988 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Silent Software and published by Buena Vista Software. Based on the film of the same name, the game is set in a 1947 Hollywood where cartoon characters, or Toons, are real.
The player controls Roger Rabbit, who must clear his name after being framed for murder. The primary objective is to find the missing will of Marvin Acme, which determines the fate of Toon Town, and to rescue Roger's wife, Jessica, from the villain Judge Doom. The game is structured across four distinct levels. The first and third levels are driving sequences where Roger, aided by Benny the cab, must race against the weasels to a destination while avoiding traffic, trams, and patches of hazardous dip on the road. Power-up items can be collected during these stages to assist the player.
The second level takes place inside the Ink and Paint Club. Here, Roger must search tables for the will while collecting pieces of paper dropped by penguin waiters and avoiding obstacles like spilled alcohol and a patrolling gorilla bouncer. The final level is set in Judge Doom's warehouse, where the goal is to save Jessica from a dip truck. Progression involves using cartoon gags against the weasel henchmen, which causes them to laugh uncontrollably as a method of defeat.
