About Tronic
Tronic is a 1996 arcade paddle game released for MS-DOS. Developed by S.A.R.L. TLK Games and published by Webfoot Technologies, Inc., it presents a variation on the brick-breaking genre from a third-person perspective.
Players control a paddle at the bottom of the screen using either keyboard arrows or a mouse. The primary objective is to bounce a ball upward to destroy all bricks arranged in each level. Successfully clearing a stage allows progression to the next. Core gameplay involves managing the ball's trajectory while collecting power-ups that drop from certain broken bricks. These gadgets can introduce multiple balls to the screen, increase ball size, or grant an immediate level advance, though some red-colored gadgets carry penalties like shrinking the paddle or reversing its controls.
A distinct feature is the Gigablitz weapon, which allows the paddle to fire rockets. Activating it requires holding a specific key and maintaining a charge sequence, which is interrupted if the paddle is struck by the ball during the process. Beyond the predefined levels, Tronic includes a built-in editor, enabling players to design, test, and save their own custom brick layouts.
