The game is presented from a third-person perspective and follows the character Quicky, the Nesquik rabbit, on a mission to retrieve stolen secret recipes from a antagonist referred to as the crazy doctor.

Players control Quicky across a series of themed worlds, including a forest, underwater cities, a desert, and a winterland. Each area is populated by enemies specific to its environment, such as worms and bees in the forest or fish and crabs underwater. The primary objective is to navigate these side-scrolling stages, avoiding hazards and defeating foes to progress. After completing two standard levels, players encounter the crazy doctor in a boss battle; winning these confrontations allows Quicky to recover one of the lost recipes.

Gameplay involves collecting various items scattered throughout the levels. These include ammunition for ranged attacks, health restoratives, and bonus letters that spell the word NESQUIK. Finding all the letters in a level grants access to a secret stage. Environmental interaction is a key component, with elements like mushrooms that provide higher jumps and concealed platforms that players must discover to locate hidden collectibles.
