About Tie Break
Tie Break is a tennis simulation game released in 1991 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Starbyte Software and published by DigiTek Software. The game presents matches from a fixed top-down perspective, focusing on recreating the structure of professional tennis competitions.
Players control a tennis athlete during matches, with movement towards the ball handled automatically by the game. Direct player input is required for shot execution once the character is in position. By pushing the joystick in specific directions, players can select from a range of shots including standard returns, topspin, lobs, and stop volleys. The primary objective is to win matches across various tournaments, progressing through a competitive circuit.
The game features multiple court surfaces and supports singles matches for up to sixteen players. Its career structure includes all four major Grand Slam tournaments, set in Melbourne, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and New York, alongside the Davis Cup and Masters events. An additional feature is its presentation, which incorporates elements designed to mimic television-style sports coverage during matches.
