About The Untouchables (dos)
The Untouchables is a side-scrolling action platformer released in 1989 for MS-DOS. Developed by Astros Productions and published by Ocean Software Ltd., the game is based on the 1987 film of the same name. Players assume the role of federal agent Eliot Ness, tasked with pursuing the notorious crime boss Al Capone across a series of urban environments.
Gameplay involves navigating six distinct levels from a behind-view perspective, moving Ness from left to right while confronting various obstacles and enemies. The primary objective is to progress through each stage, ultimately aiming to confront Capone. Players can collect different weapons during play, including a shotgun and a tommy gun, which are used to engage Capone's henchmen who appear throughout the levels. The action is structured around platforming challenges and direct combat, requiring players to manage their position and firepower to advance.
Progression is linear, with each level presenting a self-contained environment that must be cleared of opposition. The game mechanics focus on straightforward run-and-gun action, with players jumping across platforms and eliminating foes to reach the end of each stage. Enemy encounters are frequent, and the availability of multiple weapon types allows for varied approaches to combat situations as the player advances toward the final confrontation.
